Mercury vs.
Cougars 12-8
Mercury played a great game up and down the court. Ashley Colarusso and Nicki Santora did some excellent passing. Lauren Strong and Sandra Fleming controlled the rebounds. Marina Russo, named defensive player of the game, and Karalyn Gallella hustled and played great defense all game. Lindsey Cossar (6pts.) and Lisa Petrowski (4 pts.) both scored some unbelievable baskets.
Comets played tough spotting the Mercury 10 points in the first quarter. The Comets battled back making it a tight finish. Jessica Lehman and Cassandra Froio played well on defense. Rebecca Keough had three rebounds and one assist. Scoring for the Comets were Jessica Guida (4 pts.), Kirsten Dick and Carlye Slavin (2 pts. each). Christina Keefe was named defensive player of the game.
Monarchs vs.
The Monarchs posted their first victory of
the season over a much bigger
scoring honors with 6 points apiece followed by
Jamie Ray (4 pts) while
Lacey Hartigan and
Marissa Conlin fired in a basket apiece. Mary Crowe,
Molly Harrington, Michelle Creedon, and Nicole Pentherbridge
have all
improved dramatically. Their outstanding man to man defense caused
many
turnovers for the small but scrappy Monarchs squad.
Facing the Monarchs the
Rockers vs. Starzz 18-16
What a game by the Rocker players! With 2 points each were Melissa Marksworth, Katie Dunlevy, Cristina Gath, and Haley Pozzuto!! Great job! Colleen Kelly had 4 pts and Alyssa Difruscia had 6!! Heads up playing by all! Heather Doyle came out fast on defense and Corinne Doyle was all over the ball! Defensive award goes to the entire team – WOW! Colleen and Alysa also had some game defining steals!! Fantastic heads up team playing!!
The Starzz jumped out to an early lead but could not hang on in the 4th and lost on a last second basket. Loren Sullivan lead the charge in the first half scoring 8 points for the Starzz. Erin Henry and McKenzie Wyatt each played strong offensive games with 4 points each. Defensive players of the game Eva Barinelli and Molly Robertson each played great on the defensive end of the court.
Lynx vs. Storm 24-
The Lynx jumped out to an early lead thanks to some hot shooting by Amanda Brown (8 points) to win their 2nd game of the season. Toni Joy (6 points) played an all round excellent game and Shannon Smith (6 points) controlled the boards on both ends of the court. Emily Veloso (2 points) and Ally Kelly (2 points) both played strong games displaying great ball handling and quick hands on defense. Andrea Dorin and Ashley Figucia were named co-defensive players of the game as both chipped in multiple steals and rebounds to help their team.
Intermediates
Wildcats
vs. Jayhawks 20-16
This game was a hard fought battle between
two evenly matched teams. The Wildcats took control of the boards and came out
on top. Melissa Cordwell
(6pts.) and Emily Hamilton (4pts.) fought hard for the rebounds. Ashley Kelly and Rachel Kelleher had many
steals as well as Haley Golini (2pts.). Molly Tibbetts and
Meredith Bonugli (3 pts. each), Linda Ferreira and Catherine Loiselle fought hard for the loose balls. The girls really came together this week.
Jayhawks lost a close oneto the Wildcats. It was a back and forth game led by Caitlin Morris (8 points), Bridget Casey (2 points), Dana Chaykovsky (2 points), Brooke Patterson (2 points), and Leanne Lozowski (2 points) closing out the scoring. Solid defnse from McKenzie Pierce, Kavita Shah keeping it a close game.
Waves vs. Cardinals 34-22
The Waves victory was credited to team defense led by Kim Brekalis (2 pts.), also named defensive player of the game, Courtney Graffeo and Paige Walker. The game was dominated by Tiffanie Marsh who pumped in 25 pts. Also scoring for the Waves were Hayley Feingold, Allie Tierney and Olivia Gallella with 2 pts. each.
Scoring for the Cardinals were Katherine Stimpson (10 pts.), Haley Aconcia (6 pts.), Haley Callahan (4 pts.) and Jamie Cohen (2 pts.)
Crusaders vs. Terriers 28-14
Jillian Phanuef, Shannon McLaughlin and Meghan Sears led the team with 8 pts. each. Crusaders demonstrated that team passing and good defense are the way to play. Rounding out the scoring were Devin Kelly and Meaghan McLaughlin with two points each. The entire team were named defensive players of the game.

Wolverines vs. Cougars 41-17
The
Wolverines put on a blanced attack against a very
good Cougars team. The Wolverine scoring
was led by Shana Chartienitz with 16 pts. and Stephanie Champoux with 13
pts. The defensive player of the game
was Chelsee Porcaro, who
also scored 2 pts. Rounding out the
scoring was Shanell Nardone
(4 pts.), Rachel Ragucci and Lilly Yon
with 2 pts. each.
A tough loss for the Cougars who played hard and never quit in this game. High Scorers for the Cougars were Meagan Blaisdell, Samantha Campbell and Kaitlyn Gordon each with 4 pts. Other scorers for the Cougars were Michelle Hopkinson 2 pts, Melissa Mackey 2 pts. and Jennifer Cawley with 1 pt. Although they did not score Ashlee and Britnee DellArciprete, Allie Christopher & Jennifer Maddaleni played tough on defenseand had some nice rebounds to help the team out. Melissa Mackey was named defensive player of the game for the 2nd straight week.
Tar Heels vs. Falcons 16-12
The Tar Heels
battled hard to fight off a very resilient Falcons team for a 16-12
victory. The Falcons were undermanned but were in it right to the
end. With the game tied 12-12 with a little more than 1 minute to play,
Abby Donoghue (4
points) hit two clutch baskets down the stretch to seal the victory. Alex
Mecherkany played well on both ends of the floor and
led the Tar Heels with 6 points. Gabby Mecherkany,
Rachel Pendleton, and Jennifer Iannacci each added 2
points. Defensively, Josie Saiz and Megan
Sheppard were very active and with the help of Anna Piccolo and Micaela Swift shut down the Falcons when it mattered most.
Excellent
game by the Falcons who were a little short-handed. The
defense was very good as the Falcons held the Tar Heels to one shot per
possession. Unfortunately the team came
up a little short as some shots were not going in. On offense both Kelly Quigley (6pts.) and
Ally Braciska (4 pts.) were running things well. Melisa Peters (2 pts.) who ended up playing
center most of the game controlled the boards nicely. Crystal Lemus,
named defensive player of the game and Jen Joyce had a number of steals on
defense and some nice shot attempts on offense.
Overall the game was very competitive as the score was tied most of the
game. Congratulations to the Tar Heels
for a hard-fought game.
Eagles vs. Huskies 34-13
The Eagles played
their second game of the season which ended in a win for the Eagles. Offensively Nicole Chaet and Nicole Hamel, both with 12 pts. each and Nicole DePierro (10 pts.) had very strong games and
contributed to the final score. Brittney
Pachucki, named defensive player of the game and
Marissa Harrington and Krista Mignon played great defense.
An undermanned Huskies team took on a strong
Eagle Team. Shannon Semenza kept the Huskies close in
the first half, pouring in 9 pts. Samantha Laferriereand
Britney Sullivan chipped in with 2 pts each.
In the second half,
the Eagles pulled away despite the efforts of the Huskies. Leading the
defensive effort was Erin Morrissey and Tessa Wyatts.
The Huskies continue to improve and will be ready for next week.
Senior Division
Wizards vs. Spurs 33-30
Kim Fairweather was all over the court tonight in stellar
fashion, earning both defensive player of the game and scoring 15 pts. Nicole Dunlevy and
Nicole McColgan were also named defensive players of
the game. Supporting the win with great
work on the boards were Liz Connolly and Meghan Ashley. The was a well fought game by both teams and
the come from behind victory was a total Wizards team effort, as the Wizards
spun a little magic for 21 pts. in the fourth quarter
to seal the win. Also scoring for the
Wizards were Amanda Fleming and Allyson Trayah with 6
pts. each and Christina Lusardi
with 4 pts.

Blazers vs. Sonics 31-20
The Sonics had trouble
finding the “on”switch and it wasn’t until the 2nd
half that they did turn it on. The
offense was led by Courtney Spinelli (8 pts.)
followed by Liz Carie (5 pts.), Alyssa Guida and Lauren Teixeira with 2
pts. each and Jen Bowers, Renee Conlin
and Krista Petrone with one point each. The defense was held together by Lauren
Spencer, named defensive player of the game and Katie Conklin and Stacy Matranga.
