Junior Division
Comets 8 vs. Rockers 17
Great job Rockers!! Alysa Difruscia with 11
outstanding points, Haley Pozzuto with 4 points, and
Meredith Cahill adding another 2 points! We had some great passes by
Corinne Doyle. The stealing champs of the week was
Haley and Alysa and Katie Dunleavy with some great
rebounding! Melissa Marksworth did a great job
on defense and kept her feet moving on offense! Cristina Gath with exceptional_dribbling after recovering the ball – great
job!! Colleen Kelly and Heather Doyle with their quick feet and a
springboard in their sneakers to reach great heights! Tough
competition- super job all.
A fast pace game. The Comets came out on fire pouring in 3 baskets in
the first minute and continued some aggressive defense but full short in the
end. Rebecca Keough had three rebounds and two
steals. Christina Keefe had four defensive rebounds. Jessica Guida played well both sides of the court.
Storm 4 vs. Monarchs 20
The Monarchs posted a well earned
victory against the Storm this past weekend with point guards Meghan Braciska (6 pnts) and Marissa Conlin (2 pnts) controlling the
offense and distributing the ball nicely to their team mates. The hard
charging defense lead by Molly Harrington, Mary Crowe, and Lacey Hartigan made the difference creating many turnovers
holding the Storm to only a few buckets. High flying Jamie Ray and first
year center Nicole Petherbridge tossed in 4 points
apiece and were Nicole’s first points of the season. Veterans
Michelle Creedon and Alexis Chaet
rounded out the scoring attack with a bucket apiece thus pushing the
Monarchs to 3-2 for the season.
Scoring for the Storm were Nikki
Doucette and Caleigh Finneral
2 points each.
Mercury 8 vs. Sparks 4
Scoring for the Sparks were Lindsey Cossar and Brittany Fletcher with 2 point each.
Starzz 14 vs. Lynx 13
Scoring for the Starzz
were Kenzie Wyatt and Erin Sullivan with 4 pts
each and Erin Henry and Eva Barinelli 3 pts. each.
The Lynx played a very aggresive game but just couldn't get the ball into the hoop
although they had plenty of opportunities. Unable to convert some key
turnovers into points, the Lynx fell short. Scoring for the Lynx were
Shannon Smith 6pts., Amanda Brown 3 pts., and Kayla Berube and Emily Veloso with 2 pts.
each.
Intermediate Division
Eagles 43 vs. Crusaders 25
The Eagles played
the Crusaders and now have a record of 5-0. The final score was 43
to 25. It was a well played game for both teams. Offensively the
Eagles were extremely aggressive and contributing to the final score was Nicole
DePierro 15 pts, Nicole Chaet
9 pts, Nicole Hamel 10 pts, Brittney Pachucki, 4 pts,
Krista Mignon 3 pts and Hanna Culwell 2
pts. Hamel was excellent in placing herself under the boards for Chaet to find her for the pass and basket.
Defensively every player on the Eagles contributed, but some highlights
were Mignon stripping the ball away from the Crusaders several times and Pachucki and DePierro both
applying the pressure and keeping the Crusaders for gaining any momentum in the
second half. Kaitlin Fitzgerald helped her team by grabbing
many rebounds. The Eagles played one of their best passing games this
season with Chaet taking command of the court and
executing where the ball nee ded to be.
Congratulations to both teams for a great game!
The Crusaders were in the game the
first quarter only down 11-7. Meghan Sears led the team with 9
points and pulled down a multitude of rebounds. Pass of the game was made
by Jamie McAllister who set up Kim Tecce
inside. Second and third quarters were dominated by the Eagles as the
Crusaders made a a great
effort in the fourth. Scoring for the Crusaders were Meghan Sears 9 pts.,
Kim Tecce and Meaghan McLaughlin with 4 points each,
Shannon McLaughlin with 3 points and Devin Kelly and Jillian Phaneuf with two points each. Shannon McLaughlin was
named defensive player of the game.
Wolverines 44 vs. Falcons 9
A team win for the Wolverines this week. The Wolverines played
very well on both sides of the court. Led by Christine Kang
and Shanell Nardone scoring
14 points each. Shana Chartienitz scored
8 pts., and Chelsee Porcaro
and Stephanie Champoux chipped in with 4 points apeice. Chelsee Porcaro got the game ball for a great game
on defense.
Scoring for the Falcons were Ally Braciska with four points, Kelsey Damp with 3 points and
Kelly Quigley with 2 points.
Wildcats 28 vs. Tar Heels 8
Once again the girls were a little
short-handed but really played well together as a team, with every player
scoring. They came out on fire scoring 14 first quarter points and 8 more in
the second quarter. The second half featured great team defense to secure the
win. The girls combined some very tough defense and great rebounding to hold
the Tar heels to a total of 8 points for the game. Scoring for the Wildcats were Catherine Loiselle with 8
pts., Linda Ferreira 6 pts., Emily Hamilton and Ashley Kelly with 4 pts. each and Haley Golini, Rachel Kelliher and Molly Tibbetts with
2 points apeice.
The Tar Heels lost 28-8 to a very
strong Wildcats team. The Tar Hells were
shorthanded but the girls gave it their all. Anna Piccolo led the scoring
with 6 points and got off several other nice shots that just would not
fall. Josie Saiz scored 2 points and showed her
usual relentless hustle up and down the floor. Michaela Swift did a good
job playing guard for the first time. Julia Bodoni,
Megan Sheppard and Gabi Mecherkany did a good job on
defense. Congratulations to the Wildcats.
Huskies 30 vs. Cardinals 12
the Huskies got their first win of the season against a
determined but undermanned Cardinals team. Marina Callahan and Abby Meuse
applied the defensive pressure, while Tessa Wyatts,
Britney Sullivan (2 pts.), and Erin Morrissey handled the boards. The offense
was led aby Sam Laferriere
(8 pts.), Shannon Semenza (8 pts.), Laura Dooley and
Sara Semenza with 6 points each. Sarah Barnes
and Ashley Pozzuto continue to play strong aggressive
basketball.
Cougars 20 vs. Jayhawks 16
A hard earned come from behind
victory by the Cougars against a tough & talented JayHawks
team. This was a very exciting, well-played game by both teams with the Cougars
pulling ahead late in the 3rd quarter with a 10-point outburst.
Samantha Campbell was high scorer with a season high 8 points to lead the
attack. Meagan Blaisdell had 6 pts. Michelle
Hopkinson had 4 and Kaitlyn Gordon closed out the
scoring with 2 pts. Jenn Cawley,
Ashlee & Britnee DellArciprete,
Allie Christopher and Jennifer Maddaleni also played
well with great defense down the stretch to preserve the victory. Michelle
Hopkinson had an outstanding game on defense with several steals and rebounds;
she was named Defensive Player of the Game.
In a game that went back and forth,
the Jayhawks cold not hold on against a tough Cougars team. The offense
was led by Caitlin Morris (10 points), Bridget Casey, Stacey Crowe, and Dana Chaykovsky with 2 points each. Defensive stars were
Brooke Patterson, Kavita Shah, Mackenzie Pierce, and
Leanne Lozowski.
Terriers 26 vs. Waves 9
Great game, great defense by Rachel
and Renee Stronach, both named defensive players of
the game. High Scorer Arianna Mederios with 12
points helped with the win. Also scoring were Marissa Liggiero
and Aleska Pena with 4 points each.
Waves played a good defensive game
but struggled to hit key shots. Great rebounding by
Kimberly Brekalis, Stephanie Paine and Hayley Feingole. Scoring for the Waves were Tiffanie Marsh with 7 points and Paige Walker with 2
points. Courtney Graffeo earned the defensive player
of the game nod.
Senior Division
Pacers 29 vs. Sonics 24
The Pacers faced an extremely
talented Sonics team this afternoon. And from the start it was apparent
that the game would be close from beginning to end. The entire Pacers
team (named collectively as defensive player of the game)
played great defense and at no time did they let up the defensive
pressure. With good passing and timely scoring, the
Pacers where able to pull away at the end, and came away with a victory.
Scoring for the Pacers were Meghan Hamilton 8 pts., Amy DeFrancesco
and Andrea Hardy with 7 points each, Christine Dick, Alichia Cordeiro
and Alexandra Remingo with 2 points apeice and Nathalie Roberts chipping in with one
point. Congratulations to both teams for a well played game.
The Sonics left it all out on the
floor in this purely physical game against the tough Pacers. The offense
was led by the centers Liz Carie (6 pts.) and Jen
Bowers (5 pts.). The rest was spread out with Katie Conklin, Renee Conlin, Stacy Matranga and Lauren
Spencer getting a basket ean. Courtney Spinelli hit one on a foul shot. Alyssa Guida and Krista Petrone were
named defensive players of the game with much help from Lauren Teixeira and
Renee Conlin.
Blazers 38 vs. Magic 24
Two very good teams faced off today
for the right to claim the undefeated status so far in the season.
Despite the unrelentless play of a very good Magic
team, the Blazers came out on top with a tremendous team effort. Leading
the attack were Kaylyn
Michaud with 13 pts., Francesca Pesantes wtih 8 pts., Stephanie Casino and Brooke Litwinsky with 6 pts. each, Maggie
Middleton and Michelle Gavin with 2 pts. each and
Alyssa Martucci with one point. Great defense by Stephanie, Francesca and Michelle.
What a game between the top two
teams in this league thus far this season. With clutch shooting the Magic
held close for three quarters. But the Blazers pulled away in the fourth
to seal the win. Scoring for the Magic were Taylor Marshall with 8
points, Amanda Cossar with 5 points and Jessica
Fortier with 4 points. Defensive player of the game was Stephanie
Evangelista.
Jazz 34 vs. Spurs 25
The Jazz played a strong all around
game. Excellent passing and solid rebounding held off a very good Spurs
team. The Jazz made key baskets in the fourth quarter to seal the
win. Scoring for the Jazz were Shelby Madore
with 10 points, Hayley Austin with 8 points, Sarah Hogan with 6 points, Rachel Hurton and Elizabeth McVey with 4 pts. each
and Kailey Tirabassi with 2
points.
Scoring for the Spurs were Jessie Bissett and Catherine Vultaggio with 8 points each, Sheri Liggiero
with 5 points and Hayley Malone with 4 points.
Raptors 19 vs. Wizards 18
Colleen Garey
hit a jump shop with 10 seconds to go to secure the
Raptor’s second victory of the year. Paige Gumbrecht
led the Raptor’s scoring with 9 points followed by Andrea Caprio
with 6, Emily Fugate and Colleen Garey chipped in
with 2 a piece. A shorthanded Raptor’s team (5 players) battled
throughout the game as both teams traded the lead. Good team defense was
led by center, Shannon Shikles.
Scoring for the Wizards were Allyson
Trayah with 7 points, Kimberly Fairweather
with 5 points and Elizabeth Connolly, Amanda Fleming and Christina Lusardi with two points apeice
