About TGBLUpdated Thursday September 7, 2017 by Mike Bisso.
Tewksbury Girls' Basketball League (TGBL) is a non-profit organization with the purpose of providing Tewksbury girls from 1st grade to 9th grade the opportunity to play organized basketball; become more knowledgeable about the game; gain self-confidence; and foster team development, sportsmanship and fair play.
TGBL has a clinic program for girls in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade, and a recreational program for girls between the 4th grade and the 9th grade. TGBL also has a travel team program for grades 5 through 8. The travel teams play in the competitive River Valley League. Our season runs primarily from November to March.
The recreational program has three divisions: Junior (4th and 5th grade), Intermediate (6th and 7th grade), and Senior (8th and 9th grade). The games for the recreational program are played at Tewksbury High School on Saturdays between December and March. Practices are held once per week for all 3 levels of the recreational program during the month of November. Once the games begin in December, the senior division does not have practices.
Registration for the clinic and recreational programs are held from March through the middle of September. Registrations will be accepted as space allows.
Travel team tryouts are held in late April for the following season. Information regarding tryouts is posted on this website when made available.
TGBL awards scholarships to graduating high school seniors that participated in the league. Scholarships are awarded primarily based upon the years involved in the league and the amount time that the player volunteers her time back to TGBL for tasks such as: assisting at clinic, refereeing, and running the clock and keeping score during games.
