TGBL Game Summaries - Week 8

TGBL Game Summaries – 1/27/18




Suns: 39 vs. Jazz: 36


It was an exciting well-played game by both the Suns and Jazz on Saturday. The game went into overtime with the Suns able to pull out a hard fought 39 to 36 victory. No team, at any time during the game, had a lead of more than three points. Kaitlyn Oates made 1 of 2 free throws to send the game into overtime. Juliana Ricci came up with a huge steal to give the Suns the opportunity to send the game into overtime. The Suns scoring came from: Abby Hansbury 14, Christina Capachietti 11 and Kaitlyn 8, Brooke Woodman 4, Klara Holden 2. Will look for the Suns to continue their winning ways in two weeks when play resumes.



Spurs: 27 vs. Sonics: 42


 The Spurs had an outstanding first half against a talented Sonics team.  Leading the scoring was Brianna Iandoli (9pts), followed by Megan Boudreau (6pts), Erin McIntyre (5pts), Elizabeth Pacheco (4pts) and Madison Kearney (3pts).  Coach Marykate Callinan had the playing calling, Madison Pierce and Jessica Hickey pulled down many rebounds and Emma Nowell provided a great number of assist and had 4 steals. The Spurs Game Ball Award went to Brianna Iandoli for her 3 point shooting.




Comets: 9 vs. Mystics: 8


The Comets and the Mystics played a nail bitter with the Comets coming up with the win 9 to 8. Alliana Icart, Julia Moura and Ella McAllister scoring our 9 points. Some great defense and rebounding by Rylie Charron, Jordyn St. Cyr. There was some awesome ball handling done by Ava Dwyer, Gabby Couilard, Alana Paquin and Julianna Leffler. The girls played hard as a team and did a great job!


Sparks: 25 vs. Rockers: 12


Sparks defeated Rockers Saturday, 1/27. Shanice E. scored. Megan M. had multiple steels and breakaway layups. Layal M. was a rebounding machine. Christina R. had a steal and a rebound. Emily P. boxed out, scored, and had multiple opportunities at the free throw line. Maddy P. scored. Sophia V. had a rebound. Lily S. played great defense. 


Storm: 12 vs. Mercury: 5


Team Storm showed some great defense throughout the whole game.  That defense was anchored down with the great plays from Emily Erickson, Charlotte Bartolone, Olivia Tryder, Leah Fisk and Nina Long and holding Team Mercury to only 5 points.  Team Storm's offence caught fire in the later quarters and broke away for a 12 to 5 win.

Stats:  Charlotte Morris (5 points), Anya Cranston (4 points), Liv Ronan (2 points) and Elyana Canas (1 point)




Eagles: 17 vs. Badgers: 19


Week 8 of the Intermediate League season saw the shorthanded Eagles play a close defensive contest against the Badgers in a 19-17 loss.  Dakota Malizia led all scorers for the Eagles with 6 points.  Also contributing to the scoring was Rebecca Boudreau (4 points), Rebecca Harris (4 points) and Lauren Ryder (3 points).   Mackenzie Bourque, Aislin Davis, Adrianna Damiano, and Makayla Melanson contributed with great zone defense; opportunistic steals and key rebounding. The loss dropped the Eagles to 4-4 with two games remaining.
