Junior League Games
Storm: 4 Mercury: 20 Point guard Olivia Jensen provided exceptional leadership running the Storm offense against a very tough defense. Throughout the game Caroline Schnee showed outstanding court vision by finding open teammates & hitting them with perfect passes. Cadence King and Sophia Petropoulos were locked in on offense & lead the Storm in scoring. The duo of Brooke Dykeman & Rae Chiesa wreaked absolute havoc on defensive making multiple steals each and helping the team come up with many big defensive stops. The Storm played hard all game and continue to show huge improvement each week. Another great game!
Mercury -20 Storm -4 Mercury opened up week two with their second win of the season against Team Storm. It was a hard fought first quarter and both teams were playing solid defense trying to get some points on the board. With scoring coming from a mix of players, Mercury pushed forward totaling up 20 points with a team effort from Jenna Cole, Maddie Gamlin, Giana Iraola and Reagan Maniscalco who knocked in one last shot at the 4th Quarter Buzzer and the Win. Mercury works hard on defense every week and it showed from the likes of Camilla Anjo, Amelia Zambello, Emma Smith, Kylie Dineen, Sarah King, Kay Martin and Olivia Oleson. Comets: 6 Mystics-8 It was a low scoring game for the Junior Division Comets loss on Saturday (Dec. 7th) against the Mystic (6-8). Addison Perkins put the Comets on the scoreboard in the first quarter. Kaelyn Obie and Lila Chamber each chipped in 2pts. The Comets got aggressive defense by Mia Davis and Olivia Mannetta.
Mystics 8 - Comets 6 The Mystics had a hard fought game on Saturday afternoon. The team didn’t give up and came on strong in the second half. We had scores from Julia Pacheco, Sammi Quartarone, Molly Witts and Shailagh Post. We also had some great defensive plays from Sarah Maccioli and Cloe Veator. Sophia Campbell had several assists. Peyton Conley came up with some big rebounds. Every girl showed a lot of hustle and played their best.
Intermediate Badgers- 20 Jayhawks-4 On Saturday Dec. 7th the TGBL Intermediate League Badgers got their first win of the season 20-4 over the Jayhawks. The Badgers were led by Meaghan DiPalma who scored 8 points and hauled in several offensive rebounds. Maya Paquette, Brooke Lightfoot and Cordelia Zwirek scored 4 points to round out the scoring. Once again, the Badgers got terrific defense by Leila Sibay, who came up with several steals, as well as Lauren Pelletier and Riley Morrison. Amelia Lombardi pulled down some nice defensive rebounds.
Terriers-26 Waves -10 The Terriers defeated the Wave, 26-10, with Sophia Cappiello leading the way with eight points. Jillian Boudreau added six points, while Cayla Cassie notched four points while playing solid defense. Cassie Berry also put forth a fine defensive effort, creating numerous turnovers to go along with her two points. Ryan Walker pitched in with some great ball handing and a pair of baskets, while Lily Middleton, Makenna Nelson and Paige Rattey were strong on the defensive side of the ball. It was an all-around great team effort.
Senior League: Jazz- 21 Sonics- 19 The Jazz won their second game of their Senior League season with another hard fought come from behind victory, 21 to 19 over the Sonics on Saturday. Down by 8 entering the 4th quarter, them came back to outscore the Sonics 12 to 2. Both teams had difficulty getting their offenses going, as defense was “the name of the game” again this week. Morgan Crowley, Emma Ryan, Kimsun Nguyen and Paige Crowley were defensive stoppers, as they created 17 turnovers between them. Rebecca Boudreau and Madison Paulding did a great job on the rebounding for the Jazz in limiting the second chance opportunities. Great defense, again this week, foiled the Sonics last shot attempt at the end. The Jazz’s scoring came from a game high Dakota Malizia 11, Makayla Stovesand and Charlotte Morris with 3 each, Aislin Davis 2, Kristina Smith 1.
Suns 26 Blazers 19 It was a back and forth game through the first 2 quarters of play. You saw great defense and rebounding from Stephanie Mackeen, Reese Maniscalco, Jacy Hennaway, Juliana Leffler and Emily Erickson in this 1st half. In the 2nd half the Blazers came out blazing and took a 7-point lead into the 4th quarter (17 to 10). The 4th quarter is where you saw the Suns take over the game with outstanding pressure defense and stellar offense. In this quarter, the Suns had 16 points to the Blazers 2 points. Ella MacAllister had some key offensive rebounds to keep the Suns offence rolling. Erin Costello had some great pressure defense steals. The offense was led by an “on fire” Skylar Auth, who lead the Suns team in scoring getting 7 of her 13 points, as well hitting her 2nd 3 pointer of the game in this 4th quarter. Haleigh Doiron and Mackenzie Hickey also played some excellent defense, as well had some great rebounding and key scoring to give the Suns their 1st victory of the season Suns, Box Score: Skylar Auth (13 pts.), Haleigh Doiron (7 pts.) and Mackenzie Hickey (6 pts.)
