Junior League Games

With the season more than half over Team Mercury is still working hard to work on the basics weekly and add to their skills development each and every week.  The 1st Quarter started out slow with a hard fought game between both sides and just only 2 points on the board from Giana Iraola who would put in another in the 4th.  Things opened up in the second with Maddie Gamlin dropping in 2 baskets and Reagan Maniscalco 3 of her own.  That gave enough cushion to allow Mercury to have 6 different players score by the final buzzer.  Kylie Dineen owned the 3rd Quarter with 2 baskets from 10 feet away. Kay Martin has been battling to get her first in and after many attempts, she dropped her first basket of the season in with a Roar from the Crowd...  Emma Smith fought hard on Defense all game and was creating her own opportunities with a half dozen shot attempts in the last quarter. Jenna Cole and Olivia Oleson were both attacking the ball and didn't let up with the Comets attacking the boards.  10 points in the 4th from 5 different players as Sarah King knocked in her 3 basket of the season.  A Solid Team Effort and on to a Double Header this weekend with 3 weeks left to the season.

Senior League:

Suns:  23

Jazz:  28

It was a good battle back and forth through the first half.  There was a great block from Ella MacAllister in the 3rd quarter.  Stephanie MacKeen also played some good zone defense.  Jacy Hennawy almost had her first points of the season with a good-looking layup that rolled around the rim and out.  The Suns played great throughout the game, but the Jazz were too much to overcome in the 2nd half handing the Suns their first loss of 2020 and their 4th loss of the season.  The Suns look to get back on track when the face the Sonics next Saturday, 1/18.

Suns Box Score:  Haleigh Doiron (8 pts.), Mackenzie Hickey (5 pts.), Skylar Auth (4 pts.), Erin Costello and Chelsea Keefe (2 pts. each), Emily Erickson and Ella MacAllister (both with 1 pt. each).

Jazz 28 vs Sonics: 23

The Jazz ran their regular season record to 5 - 1 with another hard fought victory over the Suns on Saturday 28 to 23. Every game they have had with the Suns this season has been decided by 5 points or less. The defensive trio effort of Aislin Davis, Morgan Crowley, and Kimsun Nguyen caused numerous turnovers leading to several layups at the other end. Dakota Malizia, Makayla Stovesand, Emma Ryan and Madison Paulding did a great great of rebounding for the Jazz on both the offensive and defensive ends of the court. Their scoring came from: Kristina Smith 8, Paige Crowley 5, Dakota, Aislin and Kimsun with 4 each, Charlotte Morris 2, and Rebecca Boudreau 1.
